Unknown Secrets of SEO

Ninth E-Webstyle.com SEO Podcast Feb. 19th 2009.  Second page of Transcription

Paul: That perfectly answers my question of what WebolizeR is.

Chris: It is. How do I find out information about people who are coming to my website? By the way, the fact that stats exist and that you can track them is one of the reasons that search engine optimization and search engine marketing is such a powerful tool. Again, if you’re company doesn’t have employee’s policy for when they answer the phone and somebody is calling, “Hey, how did you find us?” If you don’t have that in place or if they’re not so diligent about it or people don’t answer the question, you still don’t know how they find you. When it comes to your website we can tell you how they find you. And that’s really valuable so you can focus on those areas with that people who are already finding you to improve on them and to adjust your sales process for the key words they may have typed when they were searching for your website and ultimately ended up on your website. I think I’m giving away a little bit more [08:02 indiscernible].

Paul: [Chuckles].

Chris: And it’s all about, Oh, we said this before, it’s all about…

Paul: ROI, return on investment. You want to make sure that what you invested in you’re seeing a return on it. And that’s just, you know you want to make sure, “Hey, are people going to the site.” You know how are they finding me? They find me through my website. What key words and all that good stuff. So this is just another thing, focus—to help you focus on your ROI.

Chris: Exactly, exactly. So you’ve gone out, you downloaded WebolizeR, you’ve installed it, you maybe had a couple of problems, but you’re able to Google and get them solved then you’ve got WebolizeR up and running or with our servers, you click the button and it’s on.

Compare SEO process to programming, White Hat Black Hat, and Google Algorithms

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

First E-Webstyle.com SEO Podcast Nov. 28 th 2008.  Third page of Transcription compare SEO process to programming, White Hat, Black Hat and Google algorithms.

Chris: That’s what I’m going to do. Yesterday… You’re already there, as soon as you walked in the door, miraculously your website was on page one. Again, that’s the goal, and there a lot of ways to achieve that goal. It is a time consuming process. It’s not an incredibly challenging process, and what I mean by that is that it’s not rocket science. You know, Google, and with all the information out available on the internet, you’re actually able to piece together what it takes to get your website onto page one of Google. For all of those out there who are listening who own their own website and really don’t have a budget that they can allocate towards search engine optimization, and are going to do this themselves, believe me, you can do it. It’s time consuming. I come from a programming background, and one of the beauties of programming is you do something, you change a line of code, you test it, and it works immediately, which is usually how it works for me.

Paul: Always

Chris: Or it fails, and you try again, and you make another change to the code, and you’ve got this immediate sense of gratification. Search Engine Optimization is not something that gives you that immediate sense of gratification. In fact I postponed the company moving into the direction of providing Search Engine Optimization, because it wasn’t something that appealed to my sense of immediate gratification. Probably making me sound a little needy or something. The guy is only focused on immediate gratification. At the end of the day, we’re focused on what’s best for the customer. I always got people asking “Hey, where can I get Search Engine Optimization.” I knew the processes; I was doing them for some of my own pet projects, and ultimately decided it was too important to our clients to no longer provide that service. So…. We just started providing that. So, given all of that, what is involved in SEO? And, again, what is involved in SEO, is understanding, as best we can, the things that Google takes into consideration – again, we’re talking about Google, but this can apply to MSN and Yahoo! – the things that Google takes into consideration when determining who shows up on the front page. Now, if we had access to Google’s code, this would be really easy.

Paul: Keywords, did we talk keywords?

Chris: We didn’t mention keywords. You’re going out of order, man.

Paul: I’m sorry.

Chris: You’re trying to throw my whole game off, here.

Paul: Everybody should know what a keyword is.

Chris: Yes.

Paul: If you don’t know what a keyword is, you’re in trouble. If you don’t know what a keyword is, call E-Webstyle. We’ll help you out.

Chris: E-Webstyle, 713-592-6724, if you don’t know what a keyword. If you don’t realize–and this is a point worth belaboring–the most valuable thing that your Search Engine Optimization company can do for you is understand your business, understand your business model, understand where your profit comes from, understand where most of your sales come from–because that’s not necessarily the same thing–and work with you to understand what keywords, and to help you understand what keywords are the most valuable for your business.
