We recently realized that our email server had been blacklisted and began the process of repairing this situation. We had no idea why we were black listed. We know our 100 customers on a 1st name basis and understand their business model so we were confident that we did not have any spammers on our list. I found out that we were on the invaluement spam blacklist and requested removal. Within 8 hours they had contacted me with a sample of spam that was being sent from our webserver through our mail server. Thanks to Invaluement we now knew that we had some sort of breach.
The breach came in the form of an insecure Content Management System MODx. We had actually fixed that system one month prior but we obviously missed a couple of e-mail scripts left by the breachers. After fixing this problem we replyed to the invaluement e-mail with the details of our repair and they removed us from their spam blacklist (dnsbl) immediately.
Thanks to the guys at invaluement especial Rob McEwen. Keep up the good work and thanks for the support.
