Chris: All right, well that brings us to nine, which we thought we might not even mention, but I’ll throw it in there. Never fool a visitor. And that really has to do with really — yeah, I mean that’s extreme, okay? If you sell puppies, don’t advertising under movers, right?
Paul: Yeah, there you go. Don’t be a douche.
Chris: Yeah, don’t be a douche.
Paul: Don’t be. I mean that’s just douchy.
Chris: But, you know, we’re really talking about take it to the next level where if they’re looking for movers, they need to find mover information. It can’t be storage information, which is somewhat related, it’s got to be mover information. It’s got to be very targeted.
Next one is optimize pay-per-click campaign regularly.

Chris: Yeah.
Paul: [Laughs] Seriously. Because things like your click-through ratio, those are things that are extremely important. If I get a hundred impressions of my ad and 10 people click on my ad, I have a 10% click-through ratio, which is retarded like… [Laughs] Continue reading “What is the value of Phone Call tracking and Pay Per Click” »

I had a bad experience with a Register.com SSL certificate. It seems that FireFox does not recognize the Register.com SSL certificate as trusted. This is the same to FireFox as creating your own SSL certificate. I got a refund and now I use one other. RapidSSL (purchased through one of their resellers is much less expensive) http://www.clickssl.com.
Here is a list of recognized certifcates

I had a bad experience with a GoDaddy SSL certificate. It seems that FireFox does not recognize the GoDaddy SSL certificate as trusted. This is the same to FireFox as creating your own SSL certificate. I got a refund and now I use to others. Register.com and RapidSSL (purchased through one of their resellers is much less expensive).

If you are here and you are the owner of the website you might be interested in my experience. If you are a user and wonder what this is it probably means the SSL certificate has been revoked, in my case it was for non-payment.
If you read my other blog entry hsphere register.com ssl certificate installation you might remember that I was supposed to call register.com and uncancel the certificate which I had refunded.
Well I forgot to do that and my certificate ended up on a revocation list. I don’t have a resource for checking revocation, let me know if you find one.
So I installed a new certificate on my server and all is now well.
I spent the better part of a day working on the problem of oscommerce not using the SSL certificate at the appropriate time. I already had the SSL certificate installed properly. I visited the confige.php until I had it memorized, you can test me. My server, IIS on an HSphere cluster, worked fine with the standard install on application_top.php of
$request_type = (getenv(‘HTTPS’) == ‘on’) ? ‘SSL’ : ‘NONSSL’;
so I did not need to change it to
$request_type = (getenv(‘HTTP_X_FORWARDED_HOST’) == ‘ssl.perfora.net’) ? ‘SSL’ : ‘NONSSL’;
But no matter what I did I could not get the ssl to work. I gave up. That takes alot, but I gave up. I was later working on another issue when I relized that the config.php file I had memorized had the wrong database information. How is that possible you ask?? Because there is another config.php file in the includes/local folder.
Once I set the setting correct in this folder everything worked perfectly. Yeah me!! Yeah osCommerce. And of course Yeah my happy customer.
I was trying to install a register.com SSL certificate to one of my domains on hsphere and the following process led to problems.
You do need to:
I actually called register and got my money back. Then I was going to install an new certificate from godaddy. To make sure I it would work I wanted to start from scratch. So I clicked Disable SSL support on the Edit SSL screen in Hsphere. Then I noticed the import SSL certificate link.
Now to call Register and ask them to not undue the charges;)
